MANILA, Philippines — Alleged rapist and now senatorial aspirant Apollo Quiboloy claimed he was called by God the Father to enter the world of politics to provide “direction and development” to the Philippines, alluding his intent to also run for a higher post in the government, specifically President.

In a recorded video message played during his kick off campaign at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City on Tuesday, the detained televangelist and self-appointed Son of God said he was called by his father to enter politics.

He likewise argued that he’s not a politician, but a leader who will bring “blessings, prosperity, stability, and excellence to a strong and peaceful Philippines.”

(So in this proclamation rally, let us pray that what is in my heart and mind will be overcome so that I will be enthroned in that power where I can do what I want to do when I have a platform as a senator or president.)

At present, Quiboloy is detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Quezon City after being arrested at KJC compound in Davao City last September over human trafficking and child abuse charges.
